Rugged Ridge Parka,
November 11, 2009
By
mustlovelabsfrom Mentor, OH
"My son and my husband both have these coats and they love them. They are lightweight and easy to ski in, as well as keeping you warm and dry. I would highly recommend this coat to anyone who doesn't like to be cold! Have been LL Bean customers for many, many, years. No other store backs their products like Bean does!"

Rugged Ridge Parka,
March 10, 2010
By
shirunnerfrom Indianapolis, IN
"Ordered Parkas for my husband & myself and my husband likes his but wears it only on very cold working days, not during his walking exercise-too bulky. Unfortunately, I will be returning mine due to defect in front zipper that got stuck many times or split at bottom due to poor nylon zipper quality."

ZipperJam,
March 8, 2010
By
OutdoorsAlwaysWithMyDogfrom Alexandria, VA
"The first time I tried on this Parka the zipper jammed. I had a hard time unzipping it. On subsequent attempts I found it hard to engage the zipper and I'm sure it will get jammed more often than not. The zipper is plastic, not metal. The Parka is a little less stylish than the impression one gets from the web pics. It is very warm. I returned it due to the zipper and doing so was easy thanks to LL Bean's excellent customer service and return policy."

"I was very satisfied with how this jacket was made. It is really worth the money I've spent for. It is truly warm even when I don't have much layering. I think this will now be my favorite winter jacket."

Love this parka!,
February 19, 2010
By
Youngs6from Brewer, ME
"My dad loves the design of this parka, especially the internal cuffs of the sleeves -they fit firmly around the wrist and it is easy to put it on and take it off. The only feedback he has for improvement is to make the velcro in the chest area hold more strongly. He got this to keep up with his cousin, who also has one!"

Color disappointed,
February 18, 2010
By
Samrafrom Ottawa, ON
"I liked the jacket very much, but I was disappointed with the color I got because it was different from the color that is showing on LLBean website. The color on the web called Bright Navy, and that's what I ordered, but the color I got was much darker than the one in the web picture ."

Rugged Ridge Good, not Great,
February 17, 2010
By
GlennDfrom southeastern Connecticut
"This is a good, verywarm coat. It's the second I've had, the first only lasted about two season before the zipper failed as did the "velcro" at the cuffs. I can't find a coat I like better, so I tried it again, but also purchased a cheaper back up elsewhere. Improvements: the wrist circumference is much larger, last time they were like small size wrist openings in a large size jacket. The hood seems more fitted, better fitting. Not Improved: The two way zipper is finicky, not easy to get started, and looks the same as the one that barely lasted a year. The lower pockets have been changed from cargo (top opening) to vertical slit openings, so they now match the hand warmer pockets above. Maybe good for those with really long arms for warming hands, but not as secure for carrying gloves, hats, whatever. Finally it still has "velcro" tabs on the wind flap that covers the zipper. Fine when the zipper is used, but not an alternative to the zipper (doesn't securely hold the jacket closed, hard to line up), which is why I think snaps would be a significant improvement. If they made a few minor changes, it would be the perfect coat for below freezing weather."

Best Winter Coat EVER,
February 15, 2010
By
OnecoldMainerfrom Falmouth, ME
"The Rugged Ridge Parka is the warmest coat I have ever had. I snow blow my driveway here in Maine and it's as if I'm snowblowing the driveway in Florida. As the wind blows the snow back on me, the hood keeps my head protected and the Parka kept me warm and, especially, dry. It was a Christmas Present and I LOVE it."

Great Warm Parka,
February 14, 2010
By
RoadCyclistfrom Wisconsin on the Great Lake
"I purchased this wonderful jacket for the cold Wisconsin climate. I have a great warm down jacket but it is quite heavy and bulky. This Rugged Ridge Parka is warm and lightweight. This jacket has met all of my expectations. It is great for walking around the city and out on hikes. I purchased the Tuscan Olive and it is a great color for me. I had talked with a customer service representative to learn about the jacket and was pleased with the service."

Outstanding parka,
February 11, 2010
By
docLockefrom Amherst, NH; Georgetown, ME
"For a really cold-weather parka, LLB got this one near-perfect. (Especially small details that make a big difference, like fleece lining at the neck. Lots of thoughtful details like that.) Insulation (PrimaLoft) is just right balance between loft and warm. Zipper flap secured by hook-and-loop sections that don't get in the way of the zipper. Tougher fabric on the shoulders, sides. Internal fleece cuffs are long and snug and the best I've seen. Velcro cuff closure means the cuff is right--not a compromise between loose to get on/off vs. tight to keep warm. All pockets secured by zipper. On the inside: more pockets than I'll find uses for. Fit is fine; quality of detail (stitching, joining, parts) is first-rate. Oh, yeah: hood. It's insulated (for when you really do need a hood, like 4 degrees, 30 mph wind); but it's also zippered with snaps at the corners--for when you really don't need one (like 15 degrees, calm). Thank you, LLB."

Rugged Ridge Parka a best buy,
February 10, 2010
By
VanChocStrawfrom New York City
"I used this with duofold underwear and a fleece in single digit temperatures at the Sunday River Ski Resort in Maine. It moved well and kept me warm. My brother said it looked well on me:) I thought it came with a "snow skirt", but it just has a waist cinch that worked well enough. Finally a jacket with enough pockets! I also liked the fact that you can detach the hood as I wear a helmet. I wanted the red one but the blue was on sale for some $60 less. The least expensive "ski" jacket I could find. A great deal."

rugge ridge parka,
February 10, 2010
By
SRbeanshopperfrom westport, SD
"I live in NE South Dakota. The Ridge Parka works well with our combination of cold temps and moderate to high winds. The front zips and seals well against wind, Hood is attached well with no wind leakage down your neck. I use the Ridge Parka to 10 below zero with wind. This morning the temp was 20 below and then I switch to my Bean Baxter State Parka"

Might be good if I lived 300 miles north,
February 10, 2010
By
Bugeater64from Mid-Michigan
"We have had weather in the teens and low 20's since I received this jacket. It is way too warm for this climate. I normally wear a short coat to work, but I can't do that with this jacket; even then it's too hot. It's a royal pain because I have to unzip it in the car, even with the heater turned off, or I'll be sweating like a pig at the end of my 15-minute drive to work. As I said, it would be great if I lived about 300 miles further north. But not for mid-Michigan."
