This is a beautiful pattern. I know it lasts forever as my husband had one from college days, and he's 55. I used to wear it, until it finally bit the dust. I ordered this for myself. It just didn't fit right. I think this would be fantastic in women's sizes or make it a "boyfriend" type look for women. A bit broken-in, a bit large, but forget about the bulkiness. I returned it, but not a reflection on its sturdiness or looks, but this made me look lumpy as its made for a man.
I purchased this sweater over twenty years ago. I have been awaiting avialability of this again. The style, cut and fit are exactly as it was in my first sweater. A little expensive, but the sweater will last forever.
Like many others, I ordered this sweater because I remembered it fondly from years ago. I like everything about this sweater except the well-noted fit issue - and it's bad enough that I considered sending it back. I've owned many sweaters of all shapes and sizes and I understand functional, durable sweaters such as this one vs. fashion sweaters such as cashmere. Even if this sweater simply hung differently, I would give it a resounding five stars. The drape of this sweater however is just plain weird. It is so weird a friend is going to try to tailor it for me. I'm a lean, fit guy and this sweater makes me look like the StaPuft marshmallow man around the midsection. I would recommend it to a friend with advice about the fit and the weirdness of the waistband. I am in the outdoor retail business (I own a shop) and 50% of our business is soft goods. I know when a problem needs to be fixed, and this problem definitely needs to be fixed.
I had one of these sweaters, back in the '80's. It was a hand-me-down from a male friend, and I wore it for years. It was a men's small, just like the one I bought last month. Nevermind the price increase, the sweater is worth every penny! It looks equally nice with a pair of khakis, as it does with jeans and a turtleneck. And, contrary to others' opinions on this modern version, the bottom/waist is no bigger than the one I owned and wore years ago. These sweaters have always run a tad large, hence, the volume around the middle. To avoid that, order one size smaller!
