I've been buying this sweater from L. L Bean forever ( when it was offered). I'm glad it's back. I nabbed one the first week it was issued. First: it's a classic, and for that I will buy it. Better: I love that it is now 100 % wool! THE most important thing is that it keeps you warm!!! Yes, the fit is generous, that's the intent so one can layer underneath it. So many sweaters are not this generous and one cannot layer underneath it. Yes, the fit is awkward at first; it's new! It will take awhile to fit to your shape. Yes, it will just like an old favorite pair of jeans; it gets better with age. It gets softer, and will fit your body better. I'm glad it's back.
This is an incredibly well made and incredibly warm sweater. I get cold very easily, but the weekend I received it I wore it outside in temps hovering around 20*F with only a button down shirt underneath, and was perfectly warm. Reviewers have mentioned the weird sizing, but I'm 5'11"/178 and wear a 16/34 dress shirt, and the small fits me perfectly. In terms of quality, I get the impression this thing will last for years. Very highly recommended.
The Norwegian Sweater has been on my wish list for a while and I finally decided to pull the trigger. I'm glad I did. The sweater is pretty amazing. I was first struck by how thick it is--without being bulky. It has an inherent shape--so there is no fear that it will look like a loose rag after a few wears. You can definitely wear it in fairly cold conditions without a jacket because it's pretty warm--but it breathes well--so it transitions easily to the indoors. A lot of reviewers do a good job of comparing this version to the prior version, but all I can say it that this version is stellar so the prior version must of have been the pinnacle of sweaters. In terms of fit, I always wear a medium and that is what I chose for this sweater. I fits perfectly. Finally, it's stylish without being trendy. I don't find it baggy or loose at all and I'm fairly slim.
very well maid, nice color , very warm , 100 % wool made in Norway. just a great sweater. ordered XL love the extra room on a cold day. hot chocolate , log on the fire : ) good sweater !
