I bought this sweater last winter in a size medium. It is an excellent sweater, and the quality is great, but the cut of the medium was very unflattering. As many of the reviewers pointed out, it balloons awkwardly at the waist. I bought this sweater towards the end of the season though, and didn't notice how terrible the fit looked until I pulled it back out of my closet a few weeks ago. Thanks to LL Beans excellent customer service and return policy, I was able to return it to them almost a year later in exchange for a size small, which fits perfectly. I would definitely recommend sizing down one in this sweater, but otherwise it's great: durable, well-made, knit in Norway, warm, and will probably last a lifetime. A great purchase and well worth the money.
Buying this sweater was definitely an experimentation considering that most people my age are a tad insecure. However, this sweater is awesome and it really fits well--although not the new trendy super skinny fit that I'm expected to wear at my age. If you're in your late teens or early twenties I urge you to step out of the box and get one of these sweaters. This is one of the best I've ever worn.
Yet more proof you get what you pay for. European quality is immediately obvious. My Dad loves his xmas present, and still wears it frequently. I hope LLBean keeps offering better quality products like this. The fit doesn't have that huge stomach allowance that seems to have become the norm.
L.L. Bean has gotten it right by reintroducing this piece. This sweater is pure quality, as it is made in the same factory the original ones were. The only reason this sweater gets 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the fit. I would have preferred a more modern and updated fit. I know L.L. Bean has tried to keep the original proportions, but the bottom balloons out just a pit too much.
