I originally wanted the cloth hat for my son but the olive color was sold out so I ordered this one instead. For the difference in price, this is an outstanding value! The leather is really soft. I think the color is slightly lighter then pictured but I would highly recommend it. He loved it!
I had a hat of this style when I was a kid. I outgrew that one and have always wanted another one. When I finally decided to pull the trigger on a new one, I decided to get the best one I could find. I'm glad I went for this leather one. I never knew what I was missing as far as keeping my head warm in winter until now. This hat keeps the back of my neck warm as well as the sides of my face. For less than cold conditions, the flaps can be snapped on top, or leave the neck flap down and snap the ear flaps around the back. The leather is very soft and flexible, yet not thin. The fur lining is soft and warm. The top part has insulation and a fabric lining. Excellent protection for when it is windy. A co-worker bought the less costly model for her husband, and he complained that it did not cover his neck. But this leather model protects the back of my neck very well. I am very pleased with this hat.
