We just had a horrific blizzard in 2/3rds of the Nation. I live in Iowa and we got hit just as hard as anyone. Winds gusting to 55 mph. Windchills way below zero. 15 inches of snow with 7 foot or more drifts. Worst one I have seen since I have lived in this home (for the last 17 years)! The point is the Mad Bomber Hat made all the difference. It kept me warm. The only problem I had was my fingers got kind of cold after so long of snow blowing. If we had mad bomber gloves I would buy them too. Worth every cent!
I got the Mad Bomber Hat for my husband's birthday. It was the best gift I could have gotten him. He loves it. He says it keeps his head and ears warm. A week after I got it for him we had a snow storm with about a foot of snow. It sure came in handy to shovel all that snow.
The leather is very soft and comfortable, but I assumed the hat would be fur lined and it isn't. The lining feels substantial, though it hasn't been cold enough yet for a real test.
The ear ports are fake and sewn shut. That's probably not a problem for many, but it would be nice to have real ones if you're a hunter because the hat does reduce your ability to hear considerably.
I had to adjust the chin strap all the way in to have a reasonable fit even though the crown of the hat was a perfect size, so I suspect that some people will have a problem with the ear flaps hanging loosely.
I knew it would look funny on my head. But I needed a hat that would protect my ears in the cold. This works like a charm. If you want to keep your head and ears warm when out in cold weather, this hat works great. It feels good (very soft) and is well made.
