I ordered the Heat Wave Messenger Bag for my granddaughter to begin fourth grade. Somehow she fell off her bike and ran over her messenger bag and it tore. I ordered her the Original Backpack in 2006 and it went from kindergarten through third grade and and is still in great shape. Since her new bag is torn, she has gone back to the backpack she started with. I will continue to shop LL Bean because this is the first problem I have ever had. I order all of my great-grandchildren's clothes from LL Bean and have always been satisfied. I would not recommend the Heat Wave bag, but everything else I have ever bought has been great......including my hammock!
We got this bag to replace my daughter's backpack. It is sturdy, holds everything that was in her backpack, has many pockets, and hangs very nicely over the hip. She is able to push it more behind her back when she rides her bike home from school. She loves carrying it around high school. We exchanged the large for a medium. The large was humongous.

I bought this messenger bag for my 8 year old to upgrade her LL Bean backpack from Kindergarden(had it 3 years and looks like new!!). I am glad I got her the smaller bag because I purchased the larger messenger bag for my 11 year old and it would have been too big to carry. The larger bag is perfect for Middle School and beyond!!! This bag is a great way for the kids to keep all their things organized as it has a place for everything imaginable. They both love their bags!!! I love the value that LL Bean offers as well as the style and warranty!!!
