Ordered this bag to replace LL Bean tote bags I use to travel between schools as an itinerant SLP. Medium is a good size to hold a small laptop and some folders/books. Lots of pockets and slots to help keep me organized and able to find things. Great to have hands free to get the door, carry coffee or lunch bag. Wish there was a water bottle holder on the side though.
I normally use LL Bean Totes to carry books to class, but I needed something for inclement weather. Backpacks are too cumbersome and heavy (even empty) so I purchased this bag. It is the perfect size and it is very light weight -- much lighter than the backpacks. The padding in the strap makes this incredibly comfortable to carry. Now my hands are free to carry an umbrella when it rains, and the flap over keeps everything dry. Perfect for someone who needs to carry a couple of books but doesn't need to carry the extra weight of some backpacks.

Large is HUGE

The bag is high quality like LLBean always is, but the large is too large for small people. I am 5 feet tall and had to adjust it as small as the strap would go to make it short enough, which meant there was a long trail of strap hanging down. The bag itself was so big that I looked ridiculous. I have ordered the regular in hopes that it will be a more appropriate size for me, but still fit my books for grad school, my grading papers, and personal belongings.
I got this bag for a teacher friend and she said it is a very roomy bag, comfortable to carry and she likes the pockets that it has. She wishes it had a water bottle holder and more pockets for organizing. The large is a good size to carry a lap top.
