I would not recommend these to a "friend" for warmth, but if that friend wanted waterproof, yes, I would reommend, but I bought these for extra warmth inside a glove. That was a mistake. They do not add warmth, but if you're going ice fishing, or expect a lot of rain I suppose they would be handy.
P.S. to LLBean: there should be a "maybe" option for the question about recommending to a friend. It's not always a yes or no situation, as it is in this review)
I ordered thinking of these as warm gloves and not as bulky as the down lined ones are. Alone they are not warm enough. They are "liners" not true gloves.Fit beautifully and could be used alone when not super cold.
I wanted a lightweight pair of gloves that would act as liners under a heavier pair or worn alone. In the past I've found either they were too light or never fit right.
These gloves fit my hands perfectly and act as great liners. I have worn them by themselves or under gloves while hiking and love them. They do exactly what I want. Would definitely recommend them.
I have owned these liners in the past and these are not at all like the previous purchased, much thinner. I almost question whether Polartec is used at all, as they are not warm at all, too thin to be warming used alone or as a liner. Disappointed.
