"I expected a seat comparable to my "doughnut"seat. Instead I received a puny, small seat; dificult to inflate; that is not particularly comfortable to sit on. There always is a first time, but this is the first LLBean product I don't like."

This Product is...Comfortable, convenient
"I have now had several months to put this cushion to the test -- and it is the best!! I can easily carry it in my purse and then whip it out and blow it up quickly when faced with hard chairs in restaurants and other locations. I have been hauling around multiple seat cushions over the years, clunky and annoying, and then they never hold up their cushiness when I'm seated on them for more than ten minutes or so. But the Bean's is terrific, plus more convenient. Highly recommended!!"

"My recent purchase is to replace the one I lost. The newer seat fills much quicker and fuller than the lost one. Obviously I was pleased with the performance of the first as I replaced it. The seat is compact, light, and much less bulky than carrying two cushioned stadium seat pads."

"So I guess these will never self-inflate--who cares. It has great baffling and blows up very easily-is infinitely adjustable and does roll up VERY easily. I will be using it on airline seats and any other seats I have to sit on to keep from getting cramps in my hamstrings from the pressure of the edge of chairs on the backs of my legs--I'll let you know how it worked in a couple months."

"This is so much easier to carry than a pillow. Strangely enough, the comfort is sufficient for such a thin amount of air. The only thing I can think of that would make it better would be if the seat area were just a bit wider but then again, it would take away from the convenient compactness of it which is such a plus."

"Lightweight. Extremely comfortable. I used to dread going to baseball games sitting on hard bleachers. This seat is easy to carry and inflates to a perfectly comfortable seat. The only negative is that there is no back support. Fortunately for me I don't currently need that feature. I bought an extra to put in the car for unplanned events and got one for the girlfriend."

This Product is...small to carry/store, practical, Comfortable
"I go to a lot of NFL games all over the place (go Broncos - purchased orange, of course) and am an above knee amputee. Prolonged sitting in hard bottom stadium seats causes some discomfort to my leg so I picked this up to help out. A great product for this purpose and rolls so small that it barely takes up any space in a bag. I'm not so sure of the self-inflating part of it, but a couple of puffs into the valve inflates it nicely. So nice to be able to customize the amount of cush you want.
Despite my disability I hike "easy" mountains, but need several breaks along the way. I like to be able to carry this in my daypack and take it out to sit more comfortably on some nice large fallen tree since it inflates/deflates quickly.
I also camp extensively and have the same problem with picnic table benches so it comes in handy for that purpose too. I also use it in my camping chair for a little more comfort and it is great for that too. Hint - if you use it for these kinds of purposes a piece of non-skid shelf paper underneath works great and will roll up into the sack right along with it - will save you from picking it up from the ground over and over when you get up.
Need a nice little gift for that hard to buy for outdoors lover? This would fill the bill nicely and would almost assuredly be enjoyed by the recipient."

"I was extremely happy to see this item in the LL Bean catalog, as one of my hiking partners has pulled one these devises out of his backpack when we stop and take a break, and sit on uneven/rough surfaces. When I took it out of the package, the first thing I did was pull the valve open and then waited...and waited. and waited for it to self inflate as advertised. LL Bean was excellent, as usual, in allowing me to return the item. My concern, obviously, is that the manufacturer has faulty quality control."

Thank you for sharing your comments. We're sorry that you were disappointed with the Pathfinder Seat. The valve on this seat is different from what you may have found on similar products in the past. To open the valve, turn it counterclockwise 1/4 turn and then pull outwards. Reverse the procedure to close valve. For any self-inflating product, the first inflation takes longer and may be helped along by blowing into the valve one or two times.

"This if very easy to carry in the small bag. It doesn't really self-inflate, but a short breath of air inflates it quickly. Also, it's really easy to deflate. I just open the valve, fold it in half, & roll it up. Very comfortable."

This Product is...a necessary luxury
"This seat cushion is perfect. It is compact when deflated and fits easily in my purse but most importantly, it keeps your "bum" from getting sore & cold while sitting in the bleachers at sporting events. In response to criticism of this product: You have to open the valve and let the cells inflate overnight prior to its first use. Do not blow it up. That puts moisture into the product. Second, after it has been rolled up for a time in the bag....open the valve and let it inflate for a minute, close the valve and sit on it to open up the cells and then re-open the valve and it inflates great."

"Got this mostly as a foot pad to accompany my hiker's 3/4 size sleeping pad- but have actually enjoyed it for it's stated purpose- as a seat.
