This shirt has all of the usual L.L. Bean excellence i.e. impeccable fit and finish, wonderfully comfortable fabric, and beautiful colors. The only thing that makes it less than perfection is the surprising length of the sleeves. They are REALLY long, and actually hang out past my coat jacket, even when buttoned properly. These sleeves are longer than any of my other shirts.
I have been buying the traditional Chambray shirts for years and I think they are the best. I live in Austin, Texas where the climate is quite warm and these shirts have the look and feel of linen which makes them great for our weather. I wear them all the time.
I recently bought two more but noticed that the Chambray shirts are now “Easy Care” and not the traditional ones you’ve sold in the past. I personally do not care for the new “Easy Care” Chambray. The material is heavier and has lost the light and airy linen look of the traditional Chambray.
I got a couple of Vendor Numbers from the tags on the shirts that may help identify the shirts better.
The traditional, non-Easy Care, Chambray shirts had vendor numbers of: OXL76 and OXL80
The new-Easy Care shirts have vendor numbers of: OFWA4 and OFWA2
I am hoping that you will bring back the traditional, non-Easy Care, Chambray shirts! They are the best!!
This shirt is very comfortable and not too thin like many button downs these days. However, they tend to run a little large. I usually wear a 2XL and they are loose, but this one is cut larger and has to be tucked in with the sleeves rolled up, otherwise it swallows me. The short sleeve version is larger than normal also but it is not as evident when tucked in as the long sleeve version. I would recommend this shirt, just be mindful of the size when ordering. I am ordering several more in an XL.
