I'd been eyeing a pair of these slippers for many years. Finally, I caved and shelled out full price for a pair and do not regret my decision. These are fantastic! The shearling is silky soft and feels luxurious against bare feet. Feet are kept warm but not overheated. The slippers also feel light; You might forget you're wearing them at all. Bottomline: these are extremely comfortable!!! A real treat and I often look forward to wearing them after a hard day's work. A word of caution though: they do run large. I recommend ordering one size smaller than your usual. I love mine and you'll love yours, too!
I am somewhat disappointed in the new pair of moccasins I just received for Christmas to replace a 7-8 year old pair. I recall that my old ones were snug at first and gradually loosened as the fleece packed down. The new ones, same size (9), are considerably wider and were loose from the start. I've tightened the laces but that just scrunches up the suede and makes the slippers tight across the instep. The front of the slipper is still spread out and my feet slide around a bit in them. My feet are a medium width, not narrow. I couldn't have taken them shorter, because I need the length. I wear this pair with socks already, so I'm not sure how they'll be over time. Also, the right foot is a little wider than the left ; it appears that the quality control has slipped somewhat over time with the popularity of this item. I'm also not as fond of the thicker sole. I see many people wear their moccasins outdoors but generally I keep separate footwear for the house so as not to track in snow, sand, salt and dirt. (In our climate in the winter months, which is when I wear these slippers, it isn't very clean or dry outdoors.) I'd prefer a softer comfy sole for a true 'house shoe'. Other than that, I still love the fleece which is warm and cosy without causing feet to sweat. My favourite aspect is the Vintage Red colour. I'll keep them, but wouldn't get another pair if the quality isn't restored to the original.
I bought a pair of these about 3 years ago and absolutely loved them and wore them practically to pieces, which took a while because they were really well made. The ones I ordered recently are not the same. The shearling on the inside was a bit scratchy instead of blissfully soft. They're less fitted and more floppy so they don't have the great snug feel anymore. The things that made these slippers special are gone. I love LL Bean, but this is disappointing. I really hope they will bring back the previous version- I'll buy 10 pairs (at least)!
I had a pair of wicked good slippers years back and I wore them until they had holes. I tried to get a 'comparable' pair of slippers and nothing matched my wicked good slippers so I ordered and just received my new pair. On cold CT mornings,they are the first thing I slip into. I can walk the dog and get the paper. These slippers will last for years and years!!! They are worth every dime!
