Of all the slippers at LLBean, these Wicked Good Moccasins are my favorites.
The sole is good for being able to walk outside in them if needed. The shearling interior is warm, creates good padding, and is breathable. All good traits. I like to keep the laces snug so that slipper feels custom-fitted.
There is only one thing these slippers can't stand up to: skunks. I walked across my yard one morning in my last pair of these slippers, and discovered that a skunk had sprayed during the night. Those poor slippers never recovered, no matter how much de-skunking cleaners I used. It was a sad day when I had to throw them out and order a new pair.
I purchased these slippers in brown, and the color bled through on my white socks within only a few hours of wearing the shoes. I called LL Bean to complain, and they are sending me a replacement pair in the natural color. I was told the natural color hasn't been dyed.
The quality of these shoes has declined since I bought a pair several years ago. Although I ordered the brown color at that time, I had no problems with the color bleeding through.
So order these shoes at your own peril, and consider doing a white sock test to ensure the material has been properly dyed.
I have purchased these slippers for my daughter at least 4 times. Each time they have to be returned after 3 or so months because the area of the big toe wears thin and creates a hole. At first I thought it was my daughter's toe...but after chatting with a friend and family who have the same issues, I can now point the finger at the quality of these slippers. Too bad...because we love the slipper, but this is just a problem that we don't want to continually deal with. LLBean has an awesome warranty...but who wants to be returning their slippers every few months...it is a hassle.
I love these slippers! I bought a similar pair from a local shop in Pikes Market in Seattle in 1988 and they lasted until 2003. I have been unable to find a pair of slippers that equal them and are reasonable priced. I found them! These slippers are so comfortable, warm and comforting! They run big so size down. I love the bottom because I can go to the mailbox in them. Well worth the purchase. I will not buy another brand ever again.
