I have ordered these slippers for years. I order about once a year and have several colors. In January I ordered brown, because my brown pair was looking worn. I did not wear them until end of February. By the end of May they were not wearable. The sides broke down, the sole wore through and I could feel the hard wood floor. Luckily I had saved my older pairs that are a little worn but still sturdy and went back to them. The ones I have had and worn regularly for 2-3 years are still sturdy. What a disappointment as I have thought these shoes to be the best. The new ones are not worthy of LLBean quality reputation.
I receive these slippers as a B'day gift in December 2013, I've had the other style of wicked good slippers (I've bought them twice and loved them too) but the side seam blew out on them, so I gave up on that style. Hubby decided to get me these, he thought the hard bottoms would be better for me. Fast forward to June 2014, I now have a 1 1/2 inch tear just above the area that the hard bottom and the leather meet on my left slipper, I am so disappointed that I no longer have these warm slippers for my cold feet. I wear them every evening, I will continue to buy from LL Bean but I do not suggest buying their slippers.
I've purchased these slippers many times and have loved them. I wear them ALL the time, so after about 6-8 months they're pretty worn out and I need to get new ones (I also have some feet issues, so I wear shoes out quickly). However, the pair I currently have? I purchased them about 5 months ago. I don't know what's up, but the ties holding the seams together have completely fallen apart and are barely holding the slippers together. This started about 2 months ago and has gotten worse the longer I wear them. Of course, I keep wearing them because it's what I have and I'm not ready to buy news ones yet. This is the first pair that I haven't been happy with, over the course of many years. I will probably buy another pair soon, but if I experience the same issues, I will likely stop. But other than the issue with the current pair, these have been good slippers.
The slippers feel cozy, and I really appreciate the rubber sole, but I cannot get past the ridiculous extra shearling around the ankle in the women's mocs. Why?!!! I've hesitated ordering these slippers for several years because of that feature of the women's moccasins. Finally decided to at least try them on, and quickly realized my apprehension was spot on. I just find it absurd, and even my 3-year-old told me I couldn't wear them because they looked too silly. Sigh...I would order the men's version in a heartbeat, but I know they would be much too wide on my feet. :(
