I am always size 7.5 and have wide feet. After reading reviews, I ordered a size 7. It ended up being perfect. At first, they felt super tight around the toes and sides of foot (my toes felt so cramped I had to take them off a lot and couldn't even fit socks). But after a few days, the fur inside perfectly shaped to my feet and they become more and more comfortable with each day. By week three, they were molded to my feet and my toes have plenty of room - I can wear with or without socks. I went to the LL Bean store to try on a size 8 just to make sure I had the right size, and the heels slipped up and down. My advice if you don't know which size: If the heels slip up and down right away, try the smaller size and wear around the house for at least a week to give them time to pack out. I love these slippers, never taking them off.
I love these slippers - they're tough, they conform to your feet, they're comfy, and they have rugged soles so if you forget you have them on in your mad dash to get your kid to school on time and leave the house still wearing them, they'll hold up.
That said, there is one tiny issue with them I wish LL Bean would address - the laces on them. Once they come untied for the first time, there is no getting them to stay tied again. It's annoying at best and a safety issue at worst. I had them come untied and stepped on one of them while going down my stairs, causing me to trip. I wish I could say this was an isolated event but it's happened more than once. I even tried hot gluing the laces into place and they STILL came untied. Ultimately, with every pair I've owned, I've ended up tying them in a simple double knot and then just cutting the laces so they're too short to step on accidentally. Even at that, they still occasionally come untied and then because they're short they come out of the slipper and then your slipper doesn't fit right anymore. If LL Bean could fix this issue, they would really be perfect slippers.
I wish I could say that these were as good as everyone else, but I was not happy with them from almost the first time I wore them. They did not fit right, and the rawhide laces are terrible for trying to make any adjustments. They just do not stay tied no matter what I tried- and I had to constantly re-tie them. The soles appear to last well, but the sheepskin shredded where it was sewn to the soles- and the thread also disintegrated, to the point where the sole was just flopping around, after about 2 years of ownership- 3-4 months per year of use. I cannot recommend these- unless there are many quality improvements since I bought them.
Another great product from L.L.Bean. These moccasins are cozy, warm, and durable. The sole keeps the moisture out even if you venture outside. The vintage red is rich and pretty.
