I've had the slippers a year, heel & toe baring with some balling in the toe area and the ties are a continual challenge (although knotting & then tying seems to hold the tie longest). That said, I WEAR them, so am appreciative of their struggle to survive. On the outside, they look brand new. They still feel "gushy" and so comfortable, despite the appearance of the inside!!
I also bought a pair for my daughter & daughter-in-law because they really liked mine. They also love theirs.
On a side note, I am on the site to buy a new pair. Although I wouldn't mind them lasting a lifetime, I'm not upset that I've gotten a solid year out of them before the need to buy another pair. *My current pair still have more life, I'm simply choosing to replace them.
I work from home a lot, sit at a computer in the basement for hours, and have a bit of a circulation problem so my feet are ALWAYS cold. My last pair of slippers (from another company) has finally worn out, too many nights by the fire while camping I guess :) So my partner bought me a pair of these for my birthday. So far they are absolutely wonderful! They do keep my feet warm, unlike regular wool socks or synthetic slippers. I love the outdoor sole as I can run outside to my car, get the mail, let the dog out, and while inside I do not slip around on the hardwood floors. I have the red color which is a bit bright for my style, but I will dirty them up and break them in soon enough! I take my slippers everywhere, hotels, camping, and even to dance parties, so I will let you all know how they hold up to my constant wear in a few months. I do however wish that LLbean made a sheepskin slipper for women that was more of a boot that came up a few inches above the ankle bone with an outdoor sole. It would be even nicer if you could fold the sides/back up or down so you could cover ankles on those super chilly days, but show some skin on those warmer days that you just want comfy feet. This idea stemmed from wanting to "pop the collar" of these slippers which I wish I could do as I sit in the cold basement writing this review, but the sides are stitched down. I have a slightly wide foot and these accommodate them just fine. I typically wear an 8.5 in most shoes. I have 8 in these slippers and they fit just fine without socks. I know how sheep skin slippers stretch with constant wear so I will eventually be able to wear socks with them as well. Double knotting the leather ties are a must so they do not constantly come untied, but play with it a bit and you can make them look like small leather flowers, it's pretty cool. In response to several reviews I have read on dogs liking these too much: Um, what did you expect they are SHEEP SKIN! What dog wouldn't want to use this as a chew toy, you just have to establish that these are not toys they are your lovely slippers. Please do not give bad ratings to a product due to your lack of training. If you have a young puppy, good luck, they will eventually learn!
I have had many pairs of these slippers, and my current pair has almost no shearling lining left. My first pair lasted so long and I ended up returning them when the stitching came apart. I wish I had kept that pair because the ones after that never lasted more than a few months. I figured I'd give them one more try and ordered the redesigned pair. They are much too big and they don't have half sizes. I've always worn the same size but these just flop off my heels as I walk. I tried to tighten with the laces, but it didn't do enough. So they will go back and I will wear my worn through pair until they can't be worn anymore. It's too bad because I loved these so much I even gave them as gifts at Christmastime.
I had 3 pairs of these slippers over the course of many years. I needed to replace my most recent pair last year, and noticed that they were described as having been "improved," The change was anything but an improvement. This style is horrible. They are now ridiculously wide. I couldn't wear them even with heavy socks, fleece inserts, or trying to tie them tightly. After about a month, I threw them away. By the way, if one is not extremely careful in tying them, the holes where the ties pass through rip, although that has always been true. These also feel somewhat large, but that is likely due to the excessive width. The fleece, which was once thick, fluffy, and wonderfully comfortable is now so thin that I could feel the seams. I would love a new pair if the former quality slipper was available; they were fantastic!
