I have been searching for over a year for great fitting boots, now I found them!! I have a VERY hard time finding shoes/boots due to taking a size 11 and the fact that I have ankle fussion and two steel rods in one ankle.These are the most comfortable boots I have ever found,also due to the fact the hold up my ankles very,very well.Leave it to LLBean to come to my rescue!!! This is the first time I have selected a shoe/boot from L.L.Bean. I am a women's size 9, and I expected the boots to be a little small while it was being shipping. When I tried them on, I was amazed and more than satisfied with the comfort. I suggest breaking down the leather before going on hikes or anywhere far from home. Walk around in them, get used to them. The more you wear them, the better they get. These are great quality boots.
I have size 6 to 6.5 wide D-E feet. I ordered first the size 6.5W and found them too long and somewhat narrow. I then ordered the size 6W to accomodate my foot length with a bit of room to avoid stubbed toes on long hikes and the boot was very narrow. The boots themselves are also very heavy, almost too heavy for long hikes with a pack if you are petite like me. (5' 110lb). It is surely true what they say about every pound on your foot equal to 5 lbs on your back and these boots are heavy and too narrow. Returning them for a full refund, I'll keep searching for my perfect hiking boots.

This is my favorite LLBean product--no question. These boots were comfortable from the first moment I put them on. I hike 2 miles a day, rain, snow, or shine in semi rough terrain and these boots have never let me down. I have worn at least a dozen different boots over the years and I never could justify the expense of a boot like this. What was I waiting for? These boots keep me warm in the winter and dry in the rain. Until these boots came along my legs and feet would always burn and ache after this short hike. Not now! Yes, they do get scuffed up from snowshoeing, but some cordovan shoe polish makes them look like new. In my opinion there is simply nothing that compares to the fit and durability of this boot.
