ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
My friend and I just hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro in these boots last week. I bought them on her recommendation, as her husband has a vintage pair that he loves. These were absolutely perfect. In all the mud and snow we encountered (even at over 19,000 feet!) our feet stayed dry. The toe box is roomy enough for a comfortable descent, too. My only suggestion is to leave enough room for Bean's toe warmers to work!
I've worn them only for one afternoon so far, but they seem absolutely great. Very comfy, even around the ankle bones which these boots come up over. I love that the uppers are made of all one piece (there's no real tongue) which is what would make them fully waterproof as other reviewers attest. Exceptionally well-constructed and of beautiful leather!! I wear an 8-1/2 but bought a 9 so there would be room for thick socks. Wow, plenty of room, and for 2 pair of thick socks! The toe box is indeed very roomy. I maybe could have been happy with a half-size smaller, but I love having plenty of room for thick socks and still some air space. My feet always get bitterly, frighteningly cold at the barn but these kept my feet warm enough - and for my ridiculously cold feet, that's saying a lot. I even wore them riding; yes they work as equestrian boots, too! I was extremely leery of spending so much on these expensive boots, but I believe they'll last forever and are worth it. You get what you pay for.
