I don't usually write reviews. And I don't exaggerate, either. But I have had these boots for 3 years and am amazed every time I wear them. They keep my feet dry and warm, even when trudging through swamps and through our New England snow storms: I wear heavy socks in the winter, and light socks in the summer. They provide incredible support, unlike a bulky snow boot. They show no signs of wear. Don't bother getting snow boots: these are all you need! Comfortable from the first time I wore them.
I have worn out and never been happy with hiking boots from most of the major manufactures since my first pair of Vasque backpacking boots in the 70's were laid to rest. That is until I ordered my Cresta Hikers. These are like the old Italian made Vasque backpacking boots. No glorified sneaker being passed off as a "hiking boot" here. Break in is required but that's normal for a real boot. Size is ample enough that my prescription orthodics fit with room for heavy socks. If your looking for a great backpacking boot order yourself a pair of Cresta.
I've had 4 pair of Cresta Hikers. They are comfortable right out of the box! They offer incredible support and they wear like iron. I've gotten them wet and muddy and actually sweat right through them hiking in 100 degree heat in the desert. I've mowed the lawn in them (push mower) and have hiked the Grand Canyon in them. I've even golfed in them. The downside would be they are a little grippy when new and I would wear them in before hiking on slick-rock. Currently I'm sending a pair back because the soles are separating from the leather. No matter once you wear these boots you will always have to have a pair! I am shocked at the new price $239. WOW!! My first pair in 1988 was $79.00.
