Comfortable Mid-Hiker Poor Footbed
PostedDecember 20, 2013
I got mine for $75 on clearance, and at that price it was a steal for a boot with full leather upper, GoreTex, and a Vibram sole. They're also some of the most comfortable hiking boots I've owned. My foot is difficult to fit (large toes, small heels) and these boots did a much better job than most. I use them for every-day shoes as well as for light to moderate hikes or short backpacks.
I was somewhat surprised to see this classified as a stiff boot requiring break-in time by some reviewers. They required no break-in time for me (a plus for comfort) and the ankle support is weak enough that I would not want to use these for a full-blown backpack in the Presidentials. Also, the Vibram sole is on the soft-side as Vibram soles go. My gait is such that I always wear the inside edge of my heels a lot faster than the outside edge. These soles are soft enough that they've already started to show significant asymmetrical wear after about 7 months. This issue may not matter to you if you step evenly though.
Overall they are solid for the money (even at list price) but the footbed is terrible. As another reviewer noted, it piles up irregularly with wear. Further, on my right footbed a hole has developed going all the way through the footbed near the big toe. Since the footbeds are removable, this is theoretically fixable, but it's definitely a pain. I can't imagine that a more durable footbed would raise the cost significantly, so it would be nice to see its addition.
Given how comfortable they are, I'd probably buy another pair despite the issues I've had, especially if I find them on sale again.

Men's Gore-Tex Cresta Hikers, Leather
PostedDecember 16, 2013
These boots are very well made and the fit seems right on. However they are very stiff and they feel like it will take a long time to break them in. They also squeak when I walk. I will continue to try to break them in but it's a somewhat painful process.

Men's Gore-Tex Cresta Hikers, Leather.
I purchased a pair of these about a month back, slightly more expensive then I am used to paying for boots.
The quality workmanship and materials in these are second to none!
After 1 hour of wearing these I was more than happy with the price I paid.
Honestly these are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn, and zero break in time!
Absolutely Love these Hikers!

GREAT BOOTS!
PostedOctober 25, 2013
These are the best boots you can get at this price.
I've hiked over 100 miles in these boots and they still look like new!
Comfortable, waterproof, light weight for the material used.
I use these in the summer with 1 pair of light weight wool socks and I use them in the winter with 2 pairs of ultra-thick wool socks.
