I am so happy these boots are still available through LL Bean. Primarily I purchased my first pair because I needed a narrow long boot - nearly impossible to find. I have owned these for at least 10 years - wear them for snow shoeing, gardening, hiking, and all outdoor work. They have not worn out but I need a backup pair. Would not consider any others. They are extremely supportive and comfortable.

There are many great hiking boots on the market, but few rival the durability, great feel, ankle support, and the good look of these. I have own a pair for 4 years now, and I will buy another pair when the vibram soles finally give out. I used them everyday when Hiking across New Zealand for months on end, and use them now in the Appalachian Mountains. This are a great pair of boots.
Bought the Leather/Fabric boots because I had a backpacking trip coming up and my current boots were not waterproof. These took almost no break-in time, were comfortable from the start and kept my feet comfortable over three days of backpacking and walking in some pretty rough terrain. They offer the right level of support and firmness for going over rocky terrain with a heavy pack. I experienced tired legs and feet, but no pain! I would buy them again in a second!

I'm a year round hiker of the rugged Linville Gorge in western NC. Just ordered my 3rd pair since 1991. I wear them out but it isn't easy. When my new pair arrives,I hope the quality will still be as good as the 1st pair which was made in Italy.There are alot of good boots out there but these have proven themselves to me and they have truely been "out of the box" comfortable. I prefer the fabric/leather style. Give them a try.
