I bought mine sometime in the late Nineties, 1997 or 1998. They replaced a pair of Scarpa SLs that were, up to that point, the best fitting shoes I'd ever owned. The B-width Cresta, though, was even better.
The combination and durability and comfort is just amazing. Some years I'll hike in them practically ever weekend, all year round. I've used them for snowshoeing, worn them on overseas flights, taken them into caves, kayakes in the ocean, dried them by campfires, put them away wet...they are just one the best pair of boots I've ever owned. And the fact that they have lasted for probably well over a thousand miles and close to 15 years? Well, they're finally showing their age a little, but I'm trying to save up for another pair.

I read the reviews on these boots in preparation for a trip to Yosemite, and took a chance on ordering them (usually, for footwear like this, I go to a local sports shop to try them on). They fit true to shoe size and are comfortable right from the get-go. I put them on with padded socks, went on a 4-mile hike - no discomfort, no break in, not a single blister or rub spot. I've never been this satisfied with a hiking boot! Well Done, LL Bean!

I have just received my second pair of these boots: It is simply a pleasure slipping your feet into these babies! My first pair is over ten years old with two heel and sole replacements. They remain as comfortable as they were the first day I got them. Wanted a black pair to wear for work as a pilot. Comfort and support all day long! You won't regret getting these boots.
My wife has had a pair of women's Cresta Hikers for years and loves them. So, when it came time for me to buy some boots, I decided to give them a try.
The fit was good initially but I almost returned them because the kept causing a pain just at the front of my left inside ankle. I tried a super thick sock, and the pain went away.
I've worn them on hikes of up to 5 miles without problems (with the thick socks).
