I was lacing up my Cresta boots the other day and I said to my teen-age daughter: "If I had to choose one pair of shoes from my closet and wear them indefinitely as I wander the Earth after the zombie apocalypse, these are the ones." LOL!
I've owned them for over two years and they are by far the most comfortable/durable shoes that I own. Comfortable out of the box but much better once they get broken in. The "B" width is great for my narrow feet.
This is my second pair and the same weakness has not been corrected. The lace's often come off of the hooks and they constantly untie unless they are double tied. Please replace the laces and make the hooks deeper.
I've had my Cresta Hikers for 5 years and wear them for a variety of wet outdoor activities here in the Pacific Northwest. They are extremely comfortable and required very little break in. I can't say I agree with the out of the box comfort. I followed that recommendation and had some serious blisters the next day. The only thing I don't like about them is the scuffing that has manifested on the toes. It is almost white in contrast to the dark color of the boots. t is purely aesthetic, but still worth mentioning.
Cresta-hikers come in a wide variety of sizes. My feet are size 12 1/2 E. I have been hiking with size 14 EE Cresta-hikers for 16 years in total comfort. No problem with bruised toes going downhill. I'm currently on my third pair of Cresta-hikers. None of the three pairs required any break-in - totally comfortable from day one
