ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected, worth every penny
I spent almost a year looking for the boots that I thought would work best for a 500 mile hike across northern Spain I hope to do in year. I had some trouble sizing other shoes so I was leery of purchasing online again. I used the live chat option with customer service at L.L. Bean's. I just received the boots and I don't think I could have gotten a better fit after giving them some information and then taking their advice. If you have size concerns use the options the company provides and I doubt you will be complaining about exchanging for different sizes. I will have these boots or their descendents for a long time!
ProsDurable, Comfortable, Performing as Expected, eyelet defficient
I've bought and worn many pairs of boots. I work primarily outside as a Land Surveyor and have to say these are the most durable and comfortable boot I've owned. I am currently into my 3rd pair as I tend to put my boots through tough punishment in the woods. The Vibram soul is outstanding and very "grippy". The Gortex lining hasn't leaked yet and the leather wears well, with proper maintenance. I do have 2 little issues with the metal eyelets. On each pair of boots I've owned the an eyelet always snaps off and they tend to cut through the laces. I always keep my boots tight and pull quite hard on the laces, so I could be partially blamed. All in all, the Cresta Hikers are top notch!
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
For years I heard good things about these boots . They are all true. Including the advice that they run wide. My feet are narrow and beat up from age and martial arts. So I treasure comfortable boots. The B width is wide enough that I can wear heavy socks which provide lots of padding. I get all day comfort. These are heavy duty boots. I don't wear them on short hikes because they are too heavy. I might not bother with them if I wasn't carrying a backpack. But for hikes of over a day, I got my money's worth.
