These boots are overall great boots! Not five stars because of a few things. First they run large and I had to send back a few times. I initially got ones made in Italy and those looked like better quality, so I wish I had a pair made in Italy. Thirdly with the fabric and leather the stitches are only double wide, making it much more probable to come undone (already caught a stitch and ripped it on some briars). The fourth and last problem I've had has been the insoles, which are very thin and overall junk. LLBean could defnintely improve this boot, but the way they have it now I just love them. I've been hiking non-stop with them since I got them and they look great. They are pretty expensive, but they will last quit some time so don't hesitate and don't buy any other brand of hiking boot. They just don't compare!
I am about to order my 3rd pair of this boot. I wear this boot at least 5 days a week and from the time I put them on the were comfortable. I get about 4 years out of each pair and the reason I have to replace them is the soul wears down flat from all the use. The only con I have about this product is the eyelets. they aren't rounded and tend to cut the laces after a while. If they were to put a better eyelet on this boot would it be 100%. The Eyelet issue is NOT a deal breaker though.

Had my Gore-tex Cresta Hikers for about a month now and can say that I am thoroughly impressed! Very comfortable right out of the box as rumored and just as comfortable climbing mountains...The boots have already hiked 7 Adirondack high peaks over the last few weeks in just about every condition possible (mud, snow, slush, etc.). Feet have stayed warm and dry thanks to the gore-tex lining/high quality leather upper! Vibram soles have excellent grip and are extremely durable..if you are looking for a rugged backpacking boot that can take a beating, this is undoubtedly a wise choice!!! Thanks LL Bean!

I've owned my pair of Cresta Hikers for over twelve years. The quality is exceptional and they are still in great shape considering the amount of wear they have endured. My boots were comfortable almost immediately and needed almost no break in.
I would definitely recommend these to anybody wanting a great pair of hiking boots. These will last a LONG time!
