I bought this boot a couple years ago after trying for a number of years and failing to find a suitable replacement for an old pair of Vasque Sundowners.
The boot fits like a dream and the upper wears incredibly well. With just minor care they look like the day I bought them. I love the feel and for me there was no break in period at all.
My only complaint is the quick wear out of the sole. They started to wear down in less than a year and now they are getting a bit flat. It's probably part of the comfort of wearing and walking with the soft sole, but it's a bit quick if you ask me.

I've been wearing Cresta Hikers for years. They are the best fitting, most comfortable and long lasting boot I have tried. Recently, realizing I'm only day hiking now, I tried lighter, more modern boots. I think I may have tried them all, every brand, every style. After all that I ordered my third pair of Cresta Hikers. They just cannot be beat. And, although they need break in, they truly are comfortable right out of the box.

Wore these boots on flat to cliff, black top to mud, and cold to hot. Fit was great, although I still think a break-in period is needed. I wore medium weight socks with a thin under sock and worked perfect. Has taken a whale of a beating with no, zero, manufacturing flaws revealed.

When I told the LLBean rep I needed shoes to cross the Kackar Mountains in NE Turkey (altitude over 12,000 ft), she warned me to wear the shoes for a while before I went on my trip. I have to admit I didn't really follow her advice, but the shoes performed admirably, and my feet thanked for them. I said "thank God" considering that one of my fellow hikers could not join us because of the pain her shoes inflicted on her feet. These shoes are amazing!
