ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
These are the best boots I've ever bought. I went back and forth between the 9.5's and size 10's. Usually I wear a 10 but I went a little snug and I'm very happy about that. The leather has formed around my foot perfectly. Extremely supportive and like a second skin. I was worried at first because the area where the tongue attaches to the boot would irritate my foot but they broke in perfectly after about 15 days of use. Now that the newness has worn off I use these boots for cutting wood, hiking, mowing the lawn and just about everything else that requires support and protection. The soles are fantastic and the grip of the tread is great. Usually I'm a little disappointed with Bean's hiking boots and shoes but these things deliver. You get what you pay for.
After a couple of years of some "routine" hikes in Colorado and Texas, I put my Crestas to a true test recently when they carried me across the quadruple 12,500' mountain passes of Four Passes Loop in the Maroon Bells Snowmass Wilderness outside Aspen, CO.
The boots held up on extremely rocky terrain, gave great support to a very questionable ankle, and left my flat feet feeling no significant ill effects at the end of each day. (No special inserts, either.) The final day - a six-mile slog over Buckskin Pass through a constant rain - again proved no problem for the Crestas: dry, happy feet back at the trailhead.
I am very pleased with this boot. Please never stop making the narrow width.
WOW! That about sums up my opinions of these boots. I usually don’t write reviews but since I’m ordering another pair and I saw the write review box I figured I would take some time and let others know of my opinion. I have had these boots for almost 2yrs. I like the full leather toe, waterproof works great, gortex, vibram soles, and the full tongue to keep dirt out. I have hiked and backpacked in these boots, they kinda hurt the first 3 weeks nothing major just sore feet and then they started being like old friends to my feet (I wear 13 wide, and they fit perfect which is why I’m ordering more, the old ones still have a lot of life left) I started to wear them for work, I work on a flight line and my old work boots started falling apart I’m on my feet all day the only time these boots get hot is when its 90 plus and I think any boot would. They hold up to scuffs and scratches well nothing a little bit of polish couldn’t fix. And all the stitching is still tight and is where supposed to be. Sole is on good and lasting well. About the only fault I can give these boots it the hooks (which seem to be of steel) one of them got pulled up when I was sliding down a rock took a Leatherman to them and got the hook back to its original shape (with some effort) so nothing bad just something to look out for but it has not moved since. Color is a nice deep brown, I hope this helps anyone looking for a good set of boots.
Never thought I would buy boots online, but the reviews spoke for themselves. Excellent boots worth the investment for the long run. I have had less expensive brands, but would not offer good ankle support. I need good ankle support due to previous ankle fractures. After a brief brake-in period at home they fit like a glove with any kind of socks. Just returned from a 5 day trip to a rain forest in Central America where I truly enjoyed hiking in the rain/mud/swamps, etc. for up to 8 hrs. at a time. Always dry feet. These boots are not hot at all in hot weather. True to size and excellent ankle support.
