I purchased my pair of Cresta's in Sept. 1999. Through 10 years of all weather use, including hiking over 20 of the Adirondack High Peaks, 30 other Adirondack mountain trips, through the winters shoveling the driveway, these boots have performed with amazing strength and wear. Through hundreds of miles, the tread is still quite good. One now has a tear in the leather upper - due to my failure to protect the leather from road salt last winter, but neither boot has ever leaked. I've been hiking since the early 80's and have never seen a boot with as much flexibility and performance as these. So, for Christmas, I've asked Santa for another pair of these superstar boots!
these boots fit great, are reasonably light and build quality seems to be top notch. i ordered a pair of 11 1/2 and a pair of size 11 for fit comparison. 11 1/2 fit better for me, but the size 11 were made in romania, 11 1/2 made in italy. i'll take the italian made boots every time, coming from a 17 year old pair of italian made sundowners.
I have feet that are narrow and flat. I always wanted boots that give good ankle support because I run a camera and sometimes have 50 pounds of gear on my body. I've never been able to buy boots without searching far and wide. Based on LLBeans return policy, I figured I didn't have anything to lose, so I ordered. OUT OF THE BOX they fit. The sizing was correct, and when they say narrow, they mean it. They are so comfortable I'm wearing them all day, every day. Comfortable as bedroom slippers. FINALLY.... a pair a boots for those of us with "banana feet". I wish I had tried them sooner.
