my husband has many foot issues - flat feet, arthritic toes, weak ankles and these are the only boots he can wear, hike, walk, and garden in with no foot problems. They even accommodate his prescription orthotic inserts. The leather is a very high quality and takes a traditional shine/polish very well. They might seem a bit pricey, but they last a very long time and clean up great.
Comfortable right out of the box. Great support. No fatigue after a full day of hiking, bird hunting, or snowshoeing. Aggressive tread good for tough terrain and very stable. Too tough to be light weight. Very waterproof. Lightweight wool socks work for me at my regular size. Worth the money.
Like the other reviewers here, I, too, love my pair of these boots! I work in a winery and so my feet are constantly exposed to water, acidic material, tons of walking and other abuse... and these boots are going on their next harvest soon! No break in time for mine, great flexibility and support. I just condition them every few weeks or so with a bee's wax and Viola! They keep going, and providing me the best comfort and protection I've so far experienced in a hiking/work boot. Just might need new laces eventually....
Excellent boots! Short break-in, great support, and very durable. Easy on & off. I've had mine for 12 years now & I've been VERY pleased with how well they have held up after all the abuse I have inflicted on them. I'm definitely going to buy another pair to replace the ones I have. The trade off for such a durable pair of boots is how hot they are, but I take plenty of good quality socks & I allow them to air every time I get a chance while I'm on the trail. They are still so comfortable, I also wear them casually although they look pretty beat up.
