The distance from my arch to toes is slightly longer than normal, so finding any footwear that fits comfortably is difficult. Usually they are too loose or not enough room for my toes. These fit perfect. A little tough to break-in, but worth it.
I've owned these boots for 9 years and put hundreds of trail miles on them, including rocky hikes in rugged terrain. They've held up very well, and I've only gotten 2 blisters with them: once when I clipped my nails too short and once when I didn't lace them properly for 2,000 vertical feet of uphill with a 40 pound pack.
They are 100% waterproof even when standing in a shallow stream for fishing, but breathe well. The soles grip very well on slanted rock surfaces, even with a pack. When hiking all day on a rocky horse trail, you might want to bring a softer pair of insoles. These boots provide great support with up to a 43 pound pack (probably more, but I've never carried anything heavier).
I have a narrow foot with a narrow heel: my true size is 12.5 A, but of course no one makes those. The 12 Narrow works fine with thick Ragg socks and polypro liners.
