Best boots my husband has worn for many years. He now has two pairs. Comfortable for someone who has a hard time getting boots to fit well. He wears them most of the time year round for everyday wear and working outside. These have not been used by him as hiking boots. So, he hopes you do not discontinue them!
I bought these boots 10 years ago and just ordered another pair. I have wide feet, and with so few boot choices in wide these were the best fitting boot I have found. The lack of a rubber rand allows the leather to stretch to pretty much any width foot. The Italian craftmanship of these boots is excellent. Seamless uppers keep out water and prevent failure , and when fully broken in they fit like a glove. Like most boots, the insole is worthless - purchase good quality insoles (I recommend Ed Viesturs custom footbeds). Custom footbeds are a bit pricey, but worth every penny, especially if you use these boots for extensive backpacking adventures. You will wear out the soles long before you wear out the boot. I highly recommend these excellent boots.
I bought a pair of these in 2006; and promptly hiked 1400 miles in them. They needed no break-in period -I got ONE blister during the whole five-month hike- and they were 100% waterproof. Almost three years later, they're still in decent shape, and I'm still wearing them a couple days per week. They're simply the best made, most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. In fact, they may be the best shoes ever constructed by mankind.
