My last pair of boots from LL Bean were great for over 10 years. I bought these boots due to the LLBean reputation, and guaranteed satisfaction. I need shoes / boots that have good support, and are comfortable to wear 8 to 10 hours a day. These fit the bill! Nice people to deal with too.....
I've had a pair of the full leather Cresta Hikers for years and I use them here in the Rocky Mtns. where I live. They are one of the most comfortable hiking boots that I've ever owned. I highly recommend them. I thought that Cresta Fabric/Leather would have been a little lighter than the all leather Cresta Hikers, but they are pretty close in weight. The Cresta's run true to your foot size, are easy to breakin, not heavy, good ankle and foot support, well made, and they are a very good buy.
I purchased my second pair of these boots recently. I chose this boot because it came in wide sizes. I have been unable to find shoes at local stores because even men's boots are too narrow. These boots fit like a glove (I am a woman who wears a men's Wide). On my first trip to Alaska, I was the only one with dry feet and no bisters. They never needed breaking in. The original pair lasted over 5years. I currently do a lot of off trail hiking on very rough terrain. My friends go through a pair of boots a year. These will last 4 or 5 times as long. Well worth it!
No one outside of the custom cobbler, that's who. Bean could, I am sure, find a way to sell an identical looking but lesser boot for the same price. Thanks for not taking that route. I can work all day and then put in an evening hike in my Crestas, and my feet will be snug, warm, and dry. I wish I had two pair. I appreciate that they are available in widths, too.
