Had a field coat years ago and loved it. Went to the store at Legacy place to try one on for size. One is all they had. With the cotton liner but an XL which is my size. Fit well. Ordered the coat on line with the Wool/nylon liner which detaches. Way too big and the sleeves were ridiculously long. Returned it.
We have been looking to replace a favorite, old jacket similar to this one and up til now have not been able to locate it anywhere. When it arrived, it matched exactly what we were looking for. The ability to buy it in "Tall" size, yet not too large was perfect,.
Tall guys be aware: if you're 6"3" as I am LLBean tall size doesn't cut it. At least with this coat. Could use a few more inches in length. Why did I check off "Yes-recommend"? It's a fine coat if you don't need the length.
I'd been looking for a good barn coat with removable lining for quite a while to replace a long-ago worn out one. After 2 years attempting to catch this one on sale and failing because it is just too popular, I finally broke down and bought it. Overall I am pleased with everything about this coat, EXCEPT, it must be stated, fine hay pieces tend to cling to it. So every time I feed our horses I need to spend some time trying to brush off all the hay before coming back into the house. This came as a real surprise since the material is pretty much the same as most of my prior barn coats (I've gone through about 5 over the years), but none of my others had this "cling" issue. I still give it 4 stars since everything else about the coat has been great. I'm hoping to run across a spray-on finish to uncling it.
