This is my third barn coat from LL Bean. The first was Bretton Red, the second was Green and my newest the Tan. I still have my Bretton Red, even though my wife is determined to throw it out. I wear it for snowblowing, oil changes, chain saw work, composting, cleaning gutters. It's a work coat. And good for years of work.
I sent this jacket as a gift to my adult son for his birthday. He loved it! He said it was very cool and warm to boot. I don't always score a hit so I was very pleased indeed. I guess picking a timeless style is the secret. It was shipped immediatly and arrived within days, which was an added bonus. Thanks for making me look good.
My husband has had a coat like this for years and years. This is probably the third replacement over some 18 years. He absolutely loves them and the only way I can get him to part with them when they become threadbare is to promise him I'll get him a new one first! The "broadening" of America has brought on one problem though and that is that the medium of yesteryear is now very large. So we had to return the medium for a small which fits him perfectly even with a sweater under it. I think if you have a truly lean frame, you wont want this coat because it will be too large!
