My husband wore out his first LLBean field coat, working outdoors, in his shop, repairing vehicles, chopping wood, fishing, and basically subjecting it to very hard use. I finally had to pry it away from him because it was so threadbare and bedraggled! He is delighted to have a new one and is busy breaking it in. The fit is on the large size, and we had to exchange the Large for a Medium, which was no problem.

Old one wore out after 10+ years of heavy use, so bought my husband a new one for Christmas. This coat is Won. Der. Ful. There have been some changes over the years, all for the better. More roomy in the shoulders, insulated sleeves, pocket redesign, all good things. Warm and tough. Feels like an old friend from the get-go.
One more thing: at this moment, I am wearing the coat myself after working outside on this cold morning. My husband would like his coat back, but it is not looking good for him right now. Oh LL Bean, my LL Bean, you need to make THIS coat sized for women (and not in a bunch of easter egg colors). The 'barn coat' version of this for the gals is incredibly inadequate for outdoor work compared to this fantastic field coat.

I have a LLBean field coat and my husband always liked it. Last year LLBean was out of his size so I ordered one from another outfitter. It was inferior to the quality of the Bean coat. This year I bought him one from Bean and he is extremely happy. The coat is warm and so durable.
