ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected, tough and very warm.
I'm on my 3rd Bean Field Coat- not because the previous two wore out, but because Friends "borrowed" them and I never saw them again. This is a testimony to their quality. You will not wear out this coat. Instead, you will hand it down to your grandson.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected, incomparable
I had been trying to purchase this coat for several years but it was always out of stock when I remembered to try to order it (in the fall/winter). I've tried other coats and they're "ok" but this year, I was determined to get "the real thing," even though I had to wait until mid-May for it to come back in stock because it was gone by mid-November. LLBean should have MORE available each year -- if it sells out all the time, stock MORE! This is the ONE TRUE BARN COAT to RULE THEM ALL! You won't be disappointed if you shell out the extra $ and it lasts for 15-20 years of heavy use.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
The outer shell sheds rain and snow with ease. I have yet to see it soaked through to the lining. The inner lining is a wonder - cold and wind have not penetrated. Pockets - yes and yes, big, capacious and will accept overloading without a permanent sagging. Without the easily removable lining, the outer shell is a great hiking coat which breathes well without becoming burdensome - and light enough to avoid hitching and chafing. This coat replaces a previous canvas field coat which lasted 25 years - and which, gratefully, offers better advantages from the older model.
