I bought my Original Field Coat over 10 years ago and wear it faithfully. I have plenty of freedom of movement and that says alot considering that I have very broad shoulders. I especially enjoy being able to remove the wool liner when I am too warm - just a few buttons and its out - or right back in, whatever the case may be. The fabric has held up remarkably well regardless of the abuse I give it.
I love the feel and look of the coat. It is great tromping through the woods. The removable liner allowed fall and spring usage too. The huge pockets were a great plus. SADLY, the liner did not stay in place. The button-in liner would randomly unbutton itself. Also, the elastic loops that held the liner to the sleeve, would often come undone and finally they snapped. I returned the product, but would buy again if the liner were fixed.
This is a very sturdy, durable coat. It stands up to briars and brambles--because of its dense fabric the thorns don't take hold. It resists stains and light rain. The seams and pockets are reinforced and super-sturdy. The liner is easy to put in or take out. My husband wears this coat to do yardwork as well as to town and even to work. We each have a different color and often receive compliments on our coats and questions as to where we got them. A nice-looking, functional, durable three-season coat.
Like fine wine, some things are better unchanged. This defines the Bean Original Field Coat, from the fine, button out, wool liner, to the teriffic canvas outer shell. Handsome, practical, and comfortable, the Bean Orignal Field coat is a timeless classic.
