I purchased these shoes because they appeared to be well-made and comfortable and were available in a wider width to accomodate a thicker sock for cooler weather wear. To my surprise, when they arrived and I tried them on, my toes bumped up against the front of the shoe and the shoe was somewhat narrow. Loosening the laces for a wider fit did not help, and the shoes were marked Size 10 D -Width. Except for my custom made Dressage boots which were made wider to accomodate a winter weight sock, all my shoes, including my heels, are Size 9 1/2 medium, which fits perfectly. Also, the workmanship was not the best and the insole appears not to be of the best quality. I returned the shoes today. I do not feel the quality equals the price and the fit leaves to be desired. I would have preferred that the shoes were handsewn in Maine instead of imported. I will gladly pay a higher price for a Made in USA product.

Even though I have a very narrow foot, these shoes fit me pretty well. I wear them with crew socks so that snugs up the fit for me. I wore the shoes right after receiving them and had them on all day.... no blisters, sore spots or rubbing. The leather is soft and the shoe feels broken in from the start. The shoes seem to have excellent traction. Our porch was wet the first day I wore these and I never noticed any slipping or sliding, which can happen on the tiles we have. My only disappointment is that the shoes are not made in the USA. I still recommend them, though.

i have worn various generations of these shoes since i was in college (some 25+ years), and they are comfortable, look smart, and kind of mold to your feet for a custom fit. they are comfortable beyond words! i highly recommend them for the wear and tear i make them endure at work, in gardening, etc. they are indestructable, yet classy:). i have had surgery on both ankles and worry about traction. i always feel like i have a good grip in these shoes.
My wife wanted some old school moccasins like we used to wear in high school. Got these for her for Christmas and she loves them. Says they are very comfortable and she loves the look. She would not let me tie the laces in fisherman's knots like girls in high school used to wear them though.
