These shoes were not quite as wide as other 8-1/2 wide shoes that I have bought elsewhere. I moistened the inside of the shoe and wore it until it dried and it helped stretched out the leather a little. Generally, it is a pretty comfortable shoe. I have no doubt that, as I wear it more, it will "mold" to my foot shape (after all, that's what leather does). All in all, I would recommend this shoe for it's durability, comfort, and style, but the size is just slightly narrow in fit.
The toe section was a bit more narrow than it appeared in the illustration, and did not feel as comfortable as I had expected. Hopefully, it just takes a bit of breaking in. I will know for sure in a few months.
