I wanted a pair of these when I was a kid when everyone else had them - it was the late 1980s - but my mom was in grad school, and I knew that money was tight. We happened to stop at the LL bean store one day, and much to my joy she agreed to buy me a pair - with the caveat that she would save them for Xmas. Alas she tends to be a bit forgetful, and no shoes appeared under the tree. I was patient, thinking maybe they'd be mine on my birthday. Sadly, by the time she did remember, they were a half size too small and no longer as popular.
So, cut to January 2013... I need new shoes, and I happen to have an LL Bean gift card. Once I saw these, I knew I had to give them a try. I wasn't sure whether I'd like them or not, but it was worth a shot.
THESE SHOES ARE AWESOME. They are about a thousand times more comfortable than I remember - the sole and the insole have been redesigned. The leather is thick but soft. They look way cuter than I expected. And they go with pretty much everything (casual). Really, I did not expect to like them as much as I do. I'm so glad I ordered them!
The service at LL Bean is always better than anywhere else: The efficiency wirth which orders are handled, free shipping, frequent $10 certificates, and, most important, the quality of the merchandise.
I bought bluchers for both my sons, ages 10 and 13 and ordered the women's sizes as their feet are still too narrow for the men's wider sizes. They fit perfectly and age beautifully. Both boys wear them to school (as part part of school dress code) everyday.
