Flying Tiger Jacket, Thinsulate-Insulated,
November 11, 2009
By
BeanMaxfrom Richmond, VA
"Excellent jacket, my all-time favorite now. I'm very happy with it.
However, I have a few wishes:
1. I'm 6' 1", 170 lbs., and wear a 39L suit jacket. After discussion with Bean's customer service, I ordered the medium jacket, and the sleeves are just barely long enough, but only because the shoulders are considerably wider than mine are. So the perfect size for my build would be Medium Long--which doesn't exist. The Long sizes begin at Large, which would be entirely too large for me. (I looked for years for a ML jacket before buying this one. Nobody had one for sale anywhere.)
2. The Thinsulate insulation could be thicker. It's not really a cold weather jacket, as I hoped. I this jacket would be absolutely unbeatable with a warm zip-in lining.
(3. This is not the fault of the jacket: The left cuff is rather tight and makes my wrist ache after a while, so I wish it were slightly larger. My left wrist got broken once, and the bones knit up a bit wider than before. The right cuff fits fine--so in effect, my wish is also a compliment to the jacket's maker.)"

GREAT JACKET!,
November 10, 2009
By
bon3694from Wilmington, DE
"I received this jacket about 20 yrs ago as a gift. I am not good about upkeep, but this jacket doesn't need much! Very comfortable with room to move, and warm in cold weather. almost 20 yrs later the jacket is still in great condition and I wear it all the time. It gets tossed in the back of the car, or hung up in our basement in the summer. No stitching issues, no cracking with the leather! Very well made. I recommend this jacket for the active person. Great for men and women!"

MUCH LIGHTER COLOR,
November 6, 2009

"The distressed leather looks great in the picture, but it is a much lighter color in reality and doesn't look as good.
I was disappointed in how cheap it looks."

Thinsulate Flying Tiger,
November 4, 2009
By
SailorandKayakerfrom San Diego, CA
"An Excellent jacket at a very fair price for the quality of materials and workmanship you get. The jacket is a very supple goat skin with a tightly quilted lining backed by thinsulate insulation. It is a very traditional style, and you can wear a heavy sweater under it for extra cold conditions. If you're not rough on clothes, the jacket should last for decades!"

The BEST,

"This jacket has seen significant upgrades from it's predecessor. They took an already excellent garment and touched up a masterpiece. Timeless styling and even higher quality materials and manufacturing, have made this a part of my wardrobe that I will never live without."

Weathered Leather Bomber,
October 10, 2009
By
Cash62from NYC
"Excellent quality. Nice traditional style. Heavy enough for mild winters in the Northeast. A bit pricey, but I have not found a jacket comparable to this one in terms of style, quality, and casual comfort. Should last for many years.
LL Bean also has great customer service with fast regular shipping."

This jacket smells bad!,
October 6, 2009
By
OldTimeCustomerfrom Canton, Oh
"The fit and finish of this jacket is great. But! It stinks. The coat smells like old rotting bacon. It does not smell like leather. The odor is more like a chemical. I had the jacket hanging out for several days and all it did was stink up the house. The jacket also has a oily feel to it. Very disappointed in the quality. I would not recommend this product to anyone!"

Excellent Jacket,
September 9, 2009
By
Buddy2from Seoul, Korea
"Love the very dark brown color and design of this leather jacket. Ordered with Thinsulate and pleasantly suprised that jacket is not heavy like one I ordered previously from another company. Will have to wait for colder weather for full review, but sure this will provide warmth and comfort for a long time.
I am 6' tall, 220 lbs, 35" arm length, 40" waist and XL Regular fits quite well. Usually wear 46L dress coat. Jacket has enough room comfortably for sweater, etc. Hope this helps."

"Have had my jacket since 1993. I always yearned to buy a leather jacket and this one is great. I am always amazed that LL can keep the price reasonable on these. I actually own two. Found the small was a bit small but I still wear it for slumming around and keep the 2nd for more dressy occasions."

"Without a doubt, this is the coolest (yet warmest), sharpest, most incredible jacket I have ever owned! Slip into it and one feels like Steve McQueen on a Harley circa '64. Looking forward to many years wearing this baby--as long as I don't fall off the Harley!"

leather jacket,
April 13, 2009
By
Leatherjacketownerfrom Elk Grove, CA
"It seems to run large. I had to order a size down. Also, there was some confusion w/ the thinsulate vs the fur collar vs the heavier lining. It took 3x but I finally got the one I wanted. Although it's a little bit larger in the stomach area than I prefer... Overall I like the jacket!"

Great Jacket/Great Service,
April 6, 2009
By
Outdoorseyguyfrom Smyrna, TN
"I've had a Flying Tiger jacket for about 8 years. It would have lasted another 10 if the zipper didn't give out. LLBean replaced that jacket with no hassle at all. Couldn't be more impressed with the customer service I received. If you want a jacket that will keep you warm on your motorcycle, looks great casual or out to dinner and will last for many, many years, this is it. P.S. I'm 54 years old and this is the first product review I have ever taken the time to write. That's how impressed I have been."

A great jacket,
March 8, 2009
By
aloyalbeanshopperfrom Topsfield, MA
"I purchased my flying tiger jacket in March 2001. Since that time it has worn like iron with the exception of the zipper; which failed in Feb 2009. I contacted LLBean through their web site, they instructed me how to return the jacket for refund or replacement. The new jacket arrived before the end of February with a sturdier zipper. I could not be happier with the jacket or the LLBean guarantee policy."

"No hype with this jacket. It is actually better than described. As soon as I put it on, I could feel the quality. It is exactly what it is supposed to be - a well made leather jacket built to last. Like the feeling of sliding into an Austin Healey 3000 in 1962."
