At a cost of $399, one expects a lot out of a blanket and this delivers. What impressed me most was how thick the blanket was. It's about twice as thick as a couple of old "army" blankets I have -- maybe even more than twice as thick.
Some folks say it's itchy. For a wool product, I did not find this to be exceptionally itchy. My only wish is that the product was available in a background color other than white/off-white because I suspect this will get a little grimy-looking over time.
The Hudson Bay Blanket is an excellent choice for a warm winter blanket. It may be the only blanket you'll need. The wool lets your skin breath and creates instant warm by trapping body heat. It drapes nicely. The queen size was ample for sharing. I do get over heated with this blanket when sharing with my boy friend, but that may be just me. I would still recommend it. It is worth the investment.
Wow! I LOVE this wool blanket. I've wanted a real wool blanket for a very long time but could never find the right one. When I found these Hudson Bay blankets on another website, I knew I had to have one. LL Bean's price was a much better deal because of free shipping and 10% off. I'm a huge fan of their customer service and guarantee so the price point was just icing on the cake.
We got the King and it is hangs over all sides of our bed plenty. As what would be expected, this thing is quite warm. Another reviewer mentioned that it is rough and scratchy; I'm not sure what they were expecting out of a wool blanket but I wouldn't say it's any more rough than other wool blankets.
If you can afford it, I highly recommend getting one. It will last a lifetime.
I just bought this beautiful blanket and the edges are coming apart. I've owned MANY HBPBlankets and this has NEVER happened before. Hopefully L.L. Bean can put this blanket on their machines and surge the edges for me, otherwise this will have to be replaced. I hope it's returnable. If they're making these blankets more cheaply, now. I would not recommend paying this high amount for a blanket that is going to fall apart and fray at the edges.
