I purchased two of the chairs several years ago and take care with them. The selling factor was the color choice at that time, I ordered two of the Poppy colored chairs and I still love the color. Problem is the chairs are quite heavy/clumsy to handle even with the wheel kits that I ordered for them. Also the weight of the chair itself seems to cause screw and hinge areas to loosen up quickly. Long story short, they need maintenance. Best used on a covered porch where moisture doesn't cause wood vs. moister issues.
Bought four Adirondack chairs, two footrests, and two end tables in 2008. Felt like major investment, but fun drive to Freeport, and we suckered my younger brother into helping with the involved assembly. The fun stopped there! Bummed at having to return two of the chairs and one of the footrests. Wood not holding up, paint cracking, support pieces coming off. Product description not accurate regarding expectations for wear over time.

We're sorry that you're disappointed with the performance of our Wooden Adirondack furniture. Unlike our All-Weather Adirondack furniture, which is made of recycled material and designed to be maintenance-free, our Wooden Adirondack furniture is built from solid American hardwood. We recently updated the content on our website, noting that “over time, your Adirondack outdoor furniture will need refinishing”. A link to the assembly instructions was also added, where more detail on care and maintenance may be found. We also recommend using it on a covered porch, patio or deck, not on grass.
While you have already returned the furniture, we would be happy to help you choose a more suitable alternative, and invite you to call us at your convenience. It's important to us that you're happy with every purchase, and you can always count on our 100% satisfaction guarantee when this is not the case.
Again, thank you for taking the time to share your comments. We apologize for the inconvenience.

DO NOT BUY THESE CHAIRS!!!!
PostedAugust 30, 2014
I bought these chairs a few years ago. I never write reviews but I felt compelled to write one for these chairs. I was happy when I first purchased them but over the years they have begun to fall apart. We have also cared for these extremely well. We live in the Northeast and we bring them in each fall and store them inside for the long winter. We clean them every Spring, a couple of times throughout the Summer and then again before we put them away for the Fall. I just finished cleaning them and I have to say I'm really dissapointed with the quality of them.... the screws/nails are rusted and the paint is "warbled" (has become bumpy in parts) and is peeling in places. Mold accumulates very easy so you must clean, clean clean these chairs. With the design of these, it is very tricky to do so. Despite taking really good care of these chairs, they look awful. We will have to purchase a new pair in the Spring. You can bet we will not be buying them from LL Bean!
Disappointed . . . didn't last or wear well at all

We have always been pleased with every LLBean product we have ordered for over forty years. But these chairs were a HUGE waste of money. They didn't hold up even two seasons. The "all-weather paint guaranteed to last for many years" began to crack the first season we used them. We used them for a second season, but things only went downhill. The "durable" paint cracked and peeled before the season was over. We DO NOT RECOMMEND them at all. The wood did not appear to be good quality enough to sand down and even attempt to repaint. Very disappointing.
