I purchased two chairs, and they were delivered to my home in Washington state. One of the chairs was defective (hole drilled in the wrong place, one piece broken. I sent you an email with photos of the problem. I got back a prompt reply that I could ship back for a replacement, or I could try to fix myself and LLBean would pay for parts needed. I succeeded in fixing (I had to purchase a drill bit), and was able to use the chairs right away. Thank you to the customer service department for your prompt attention!
It took me 5 hours to assemble 2 chairs, 2 footstools, and 1 table. I am a handy and competent person. What I didn't find out until I got the items is that they recommend 2 people for the assembly, which I didn't have available. But for a bit of patience and luck I managed to accomplish it without hiring someone to do it for me. One item didn't have hardware, but I found what I needed in my toolbox. Glad to have them now that they are assembled, but it took more time than the reviews and description led me to believe.
A bought a pair of Adirondack chairs a few years ago and they are the only LL Bean product to have let me down. The seat slats and front horizontal board are rotting and have to be replaced. The repair is made worse because the slats are not standard size lumber. They have set out through the summer but are protected in the winter. They are a very poor product and not up to Bean standards.
Our company, Windows Plus of Central Maine, has been delighted to offer the Classic Adirondack chair as a give-away at our home shows. This year we purchased the navy blue one. Our customers (& employees!) find the chair exceedingly comfortable to sit in!
