My aunt and uncle had Adirondak chairs at their cottage at Sandy Pond, NY, near Lake Ontario, since the 1940's. My husband fell in love with them when we went there on our honeymoon in 1967. I ordered a pair of chairs for our anniversary this year. My husband still loves the chairs (and me), and we really like sitting in them at our lakeside home in Texas.
In addition to the romantic part, the chairs are very well made, and easy to assemble (says Ron the Assembler). They are an attractive addition to our deck.
I purchased cushions for the chairs for greater comfort. I recommend the cushions that I bought from LLBean.
I bought a 2 chairs, 2 footrests, 1 side table and seat cushions 2 years ago for our deck. They have had gentle adult use since. They took some time to put together, but seemed well designed & easy to use. They are too heavy to move around or fold up often so I purchased covers to protect them from rain/dirt. (They're stored indoors the winter months.) Despite our best attempts to care for them, they are falling apart. White paint is worn in places that are not touched during standard use, a rear leg has cracked off, an armrest has fallen off and some wood slates are starting to crack. These chairs look great, but don’t hold up past one season. They are not the expected L.L. Bean quality and we are very disappointed.
We ordered 4 in red, a perfect splash of color on our deck. Easy to put together, read through instuctions first. It is helpful to have someone hold the back but not necessary. The next 3 chairs were easy. These are the real deal and the folding option is great. Luv that Bean.
Just bought two white chairs for the front yard. They're comfortable, look great and are holding up well with the elements (rain, sun, birds). Armrests are great for holding a drink or small plate. They're a good fit for me (5'3") and husband (6'1").
