These were a cinch to put together. Don't be put off thinking you need an extra hand when a knee will do. They are trim and comfortable. A rather large person might not find them roomy enough but then a larger chair wouldn't be as portable. I bought the paprika and it looks very jolly on the green grass or on my newly built patio surrounded by salmon impatiens and chartreuse hostas. YES!!
I have been an LLBean shopper since I was a small child in the Adirondacks (their stuff is usually indestructible)... We ordered 4 chairs, 2 square side tables, and 2 foot rests in summer 2005. They lasted (and looked) great on the porch of our then home... We quickly started loosing the pegs (see comments from other reviewers) that hold the sides but they still function fine... In spring 2006 we moved to a different home where I stationed our collection around our new fire pit... since then they have rapidly deteriorated... The tables and both foot rests have all broken (the top boards of the tables warped pulling the screws out of the bases and making them unusable) and the foot rests both broke under the pressure of the neighborhood kids sitting on them (come on.... they are 4 and under and weight maybe 35 pounds each?)...the paint fades, chips, and peels, the hardware has all rusted, the feet are already rotting from contact with the ground (which as a native adirondacker who grew up with the original chairs sitting on beaches and lawns for decades finds insulting). I recently went to give them their spring "wash" and found that several of the arms have rotted to the point (invisibly below the paint) that when I went to tighten the bolts they compressed as if I were tightening a bolt on cardboard... I do recommend these for a covered area like a porch or semi enclosed patio but STRONGLY encourage LLBean to make it clear to buyers that these are not really made to be used the way that traditional Adirondack chairs are intended...
I did a lot of on-line shopping and reviewing before coming back to LLBean. I don't know why I waste my time on any other websites. Also, we ordered 2 chairs and my husband put the 2nd one together in 10 minutes!!!!
The biggest problem is that it "throws" paint. It constantly flakes and needs to be scraped and repainted on a regular basis. For outdoor furniture, it should be better able to withstand the outdoors. Also, the bottoms of the legs do not do well when in contact with the ground.
