The Adirondack chairs took some time to become available. They were not difficult to assemble (takes 2 people) and look nice. They are not really all that comfortable however (we're considering cushions). We've never had this type of chair before--maybe they all feel this way.
First of all, I would have to qualify my statement that I would not recommend this item to a friend. I might. My problem is not with the workmanship of this chair, it is with the paint. Within a week's time, a small area of paint on the leg of the chair peeled off. This week I noticed a spot on the very top point of the chair back that may be rotting. The paint is no longer there. I purchased a wonderful Adirondack chair cover that I try to put on before it rains but I still have areas on the chair that are peeling. The chair is less than 2 months old! I worry about just how long this chair will last. I guess I need to see what I can seal it with. I had hoped that it would have arrived very well sealed. I love LL Bean but I was disappointed in this product.
I love L.L. Bean and it's products. I have been a faithful customer for over thirty years. The first item I have not been completely satisfied with is the adirondack chairs. I have four of them. Last spring 2012 we got them out of storage and found one had rotted. Last fall when we were putting them away we found another board on a chair had also rotted. Then, this spring 2013, when we got them out to use we found the third chair had a rotten piece of wood. All different places on the chair but all had rotted. Of course, L.L. Bean is wonderful about replacing the chairs. But, it isn't easy putting the chairs together, using them three months then having to take them apart, boxing them up and send back to L.L. Bean. Then, they will send us a replacement and we have to put that chair together. These chairs sit on our patio not ground. We store them from Labor Day to Memorial Day hanging up off the ground in a building. Why we have had so much trouble with them I don't know. I love the chairs and hope this will help clear up any future problems.
this chair is easy to put together with easy to understand directions. It is comfortable to sit it in. Best quality I have found after my intensive research with other companies.
