Can't believe the size variation from normal sizing. I wear a size 49 blazer and ordered this item in a size 48 (odd sizes are not available). Much to my surprise this blazer was at least 2 - 3 sizes too big. I really don't know what size I should order for a proper fit.
LLBean is the best and always will be, but whoever designs the body size and sleeve length needs to redesign. When I received this jacket, at first, it was impressive in quality and value, but when I tried it on, the sleeve lenght was below my finger tips and the body size was humungus (very large). The size ordered is my normal size by the way. OK, I figured it's oversized because of cotton shrinkage during washing, so I washed it. Not a bit of shrinkage. I'm only complaining about the product, not LLBean. Bean makes it so easy to have confidence in them because of the return policy. Just beware of the size you order. I'm just sorry it didn't fit. Nice jacket otherwise.
I read the other reviews but figured I'd take a chance anyway as I needed a light summer jacket and this was on sale ($59). I wear a 44L jacket and a large-tall casual shirt, so I ordered the 44 Tall. Based on others' comments, I'd have gone with the 42 Tall if it had been in stock, but no such luck.
When it arrived, I immediately tried it on. Yikes! I was swamped. The arms were at least an inch longer than one might have expected, but they were tame compared with the baggy volume of the arms and the body. Other commenters have said they looked like kids wearing dad's jacket -- exactly my impression. The only part that seemed to fit was through the shoulders, leading me to believe that a smaller size would have resulted in different fit problems.
On the plus size, the construction seemed quite good, and I found the lack of a lining caused no difficulty, though as I said it was positively huge on me, so....
Next trip to Maine (June), it's going back from whence it came.
i bought one of these jackets last year before we went one our cruise. He loves it and looks wonderfull in it. We bought another one in a different color this year already. He still wants a Navy blue one but those sell out quickly so we're still waiting. My husband is a big guy but the fit is roomy. Love it.
