This Product is...disappointing
"I ordered this bed in king size last week. It was shipped and delivered promptly. Assembly was simple and straightforward. I must say that for $700.00 the quality that I expect is just not there. The headboard is very wobbly. The upright posts of the headboard are made of very thin walled tubing and and are actually two pieces mated together. The footboard mounting holes are too high up on the tubing. When mated to the frame the foot pads at the bottom of the bed no longer touch the floor. L.L. Bean has never disappointed in the past, but this product is just not worth the price."

"I just love the cottage beds I purchased. They were very easy for me to assemble by myself. The instructions were easy to follow and everything fit perfectly. Not bad for a 72 year old grandmother to get a room ready for those grandchildren."

"I ordered this bed and it arrived within 4 days! I loved that it is shipped by UPS because I was able to track the order and knew what day each piece would arrive. It is packaged very well.
It is extremely easy to put together. I am a female of small build and I was able to put it together by myself. the frame requires no tools at all and is interlocking so it is very sturdy. The tools are included that you need to attach the head and foot boards.
I ordered the bed in milk white and it is beautiful. It is a nice addition to my home."

"It took me several months to decide whether to purchase this bed--especially after I read an earlier not-so-nice review. I work for the Forest Service in a very remote part of Northern California so it is imperative that the bed not only suit my needs but that it is of good quality (so I don't have to go to the trouble of returning it). I'm happy to say that I am not disappointed. It's a beautiful bed (I ordered the black finish, queen sized), is easy to put together, and looks great once assembled. I was able to assemble the bed, by myself, in a little over an hour. (The only minor issue I encountered was that the mattress frame parts were not wrapped when shipped in their separate package. Fortunately, they weren't as scratched or marred as I thought they might be for having jangled around loosely. I should tell you that the headboard and footboard were both wrapped well.)"

"After about a year of use, the bed is great for sleeping, not for reading or leaning upon the headboard, which seems an afterthought. It is not part of the framing, merely bolted on the bottom of the mattress frame.
The bed cannot be mpved by pushing or pulling the headboard, which would bend or break off at the bottom if overstressed by leaning against, pushed or pulled as if to slide the unit. Previous wooden headboard bed was attached in 2 places on each side of the frame and was very solidly part of the structure...and a very comfortable lean to reading spot.
Seated and leaning against this headboard causes an uneasy unstalble reluctance to use for anything other than sleeping."

"We just finised a major renovation of our home and I wanted to decorate our new master bedroom in a cottage look. I had been looking at this bed for years and finally took the plunge. Oh my!! I absolutely love this bed! It is perfect for our bedroom and looks wonderful with the Bean crochet bedskirt. My only wish is that the frame itself was painted white instead of black...but it really is not a problem since the bedskirt covers it.
Love it, love it, love it! Oh, and the shipping??? I thought it was going to take 5 - 6 weeks and we had it within a week! Awesome as always, LLBean!"

"Before I write about how great this bed it, let me tell you about LL Bean's Customer Service.
If anyone reading this is hesitant about ordering something they haven't seen and are worried that something won't work, hopefully what you will read will help you make your decision.
We had our mattress set delivered on a Saturday. We were upgrading from a queen bed to a king, so we didn't get the frame put together until they took away the old queen bed. We were unable to attach the foot and head boards to the frame because the holes didn't line up. I immediately called LL Bean (keep in mind this is Saturday) and over the course of the weekend we concluded that we had received the wrong frame. Customer service bent over backwards to make sure we had a solution to our problem. Monday morning the new frame was shipped via air and on Tuesday we had the new frame!
The frame works with the bed and we couldn't be happier. The head and foot boards are substantial and very well built. It is a solid bed and there is no wobbling or squeaking anywhere. The foot board bows out a bit which I like because it gives room for the down comforter to fall at the foot of the bed. This will be a bed that is heirloom quality.
If I had to do it over, I wouldn't have done a single thing differently."

"I bought this bed over 15 years ago and still love it. It looks as good now as when it first arrived. The milk white brightens the room and looks great with a variety of quilts and comforters. I love the way the foot bows out. Great for stomach sleepers. Very gender neutral."

"I worried that this bed might be difficult to assemble but it turned out to be quite simple. The two sides of the frame slid right into place, no tools required. The headboard came with four long screws, four flat washers and four hex nuts. The footboard came with four short screws and four flat washers. Packaging included both an Allen wrench and an open wrench, so the fact that I own very few tools was not a problem. Directions were brief and clear. Overall, the bed took me a little over an hour to assemble. I would imagine that anyone with basic handyman skills could assemble it in about 30 minutes."

"I really like the design of the bed and it's good solid quality. The color is less "milk white" (less white) than I thought it would be. The footboard is curved and about 6 inches away from the end of my standard twin mattress. It would probably be better with an extra long mattress. But on the plus side, it leaves room to drape your quilt.
The bed looks great in my 6 yr. old daughter's room and will be design appropriate when she's a teenager as well as an adult."

"I ordered this bed sight-unseen, other than the online photograph, based on the excellent reviews of others here and also L.L. Bean's reputation for high quality products. The queen bed arrived promptly and I was not disappointed! This bed was well worth the $599 price tag and was easy to put together. It's a stunning bed and I love how the footboard curves just enough to give plenty of room for an oversized down comforter to fall neatly down the end of the bed. It's truly a gorgeous bed. "I personally would never buy a bed frame online, but I purchased this cottage iron bed with the assurance that it would be much sturdier than any merchandise I had looked at in local furniture stores. I am very pleased to be using this in my guestroom. The headboard and footboard are of heavy quality and not flimsy. I can always count on llbean to come through with flying colors to return merchandise if not 100% satisfied and this would be no exception. Never in a million years, would I dream of sending this bed frame back because of cheap quality (upon opening it for inspection), it actually exceeded my expectations. The only negative comment, was that I tried to purchase just the queen size headboard without the footboard and it could not be purchased in queen size, only twin size with just a headboard."
