I always bought the "Classic" version of these jeans. They were the best. The waist was not too high and not too tight. The legs were slender but not too much so. These are too tight on the waist and the legs are too wide. I like that they are all cotton but the cut is not good. I wish LL Bean would bring back Classic jeans in dark blue and black, all cotton.
I have worn a size 10 L.L.Bean jeans and pants for years and still wear them; just got an order last month in a 10 that is perfect. These are way too tight. Since they are 100% cotton, the length might shrink up and be okay, but the fit will be even tighter.. Will have to exchange for a 12. Now I have to send them back and pay for shipping.
LL Bean's jeans are the only jeans that are true denim. I like this style because they sit at the waist. This style fits well except for the pant leg. They're a little too big in the legs for me but I can deal with this because I like everything else about them.
I have bought these jeans for at least 10 years. They are what I wear 80% of the time (I'm retired). But my most recent purchase is much smaller than any previous one. I normally buy 8's in dressier pants, but prefer a slightly looser fit in my jeans, and I do think they shrink just a little, so I always get a 10 MT. New jeans normally are a bit roomy, but a few washings get them just the way I like them. I can barely zip the new pair up, and comparing the new pair to an older, much-washed pair, I can see a distinct difference. I am beyond disappointed.
